Love and Hugs and All That

I don’t think I say it enough, but I love you guys. For real.

When I started this blog a couple of years ago, I never dreamed of the friends I’d make and the people I’d come into contact with. It’s been amazing, and more than that, you’re all amazing. I just thought you all should know how awesome you are.

The online fitness community tends to be an abundantly positive place, and I want to thank you guys for being a part of that. FitGeek community is wonderful and supportive. Too much of the internet is a cesspool, and if you’re anything like me, you just don’t have time for that kind of negativity in your lives.

When I first started running, I noticed how accepting that part of the fitness community was. It didn’t matter how fast you run or how far. It just mattered that you ran. At races, on blogs, on Twitter, wherever runners are, I saw them supporting each other. Even the last person to cross that finish line got a hug, a banana, and applause.

And that’s awesome.

The online FitGeek community is like that, too. We are all in this together, and I think at some level we know that. Whether we’re Trekkers or wannabe superheroes, Browncoats or Stormtroopers, we are all a part of something bigger–a community of like-minded folks with whom we can share our successes and failures, triumphs and tribulations.

Without fear of being judged.

So for that, guys, thank you. When I get down about myself, you guys are there to help pick me back up. And I see you doing it for each other, too.

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, and while it’s a romantic holiday for most people, I want to take this time to let each and every one of you guys know I love you, that you’re a part of a community, and that you’re appreciated.

Happy Love Day, folks. I hope it’s as full of as much awesome as you all deserve.

Community Spotlight

Each week, #FitGeekFriday will feature one of the awesome posts shared by you wonderful FitGeeks out there.

This week, we’re sharing the love with Whitney from The French Fry Runner. She’s blogging about wonderful Valentine’s Day gifts for the FitGeeks in your life, and I gotta say, when I got to the section about earbuds, I swooned.

I might like specialty, athletic earbuds almost as much as I love running shoes. Almost.

If you haven’t checked her out yet, head on over and see if you can get any last-minute ideas for that special FitGeek in your life. Who knows, maybe you’ll find something you want, too. And if so…#TreatYoSelf
