Polar Blasts Are Awesome!
I love living in the South. People are nice, the scenery is beautiful, and the cost of living is pretty darn reasonable.
But you know what I love even more than that?
How people down here lose their ever-loving minds anytime more than a single, itty-bitty snowflake falls. Heaven help us if temperatures drop below freezing and it precipitates at all.
Lucky for me, it snowed and iced this week. And in Tennessee/Alabama (I live on the line and drive across for work), that means…wait for it…snow days! Yay!
Monday through Wednesday of this week, I was iced and snowed in my house, left to my own devices. I watched bunches of Friends, ran a bunch on the treadmill, and played more than my share of Hearthstone while on the FitDesk.
It. Was. Awesome.
And you know what’s even better than that? In just seven short days, I’m off for a full week for spring break! Don’t let anyone ever tell you differently–the best part about being a teacher are all the wonderful breaks we get to take. And when you’re a teacher in the South, snow days only make that better! #sofullofwin
How have you been handling the polar blast that’s covered the country? Has your polar blast been as awesome as mine?
Every week, #FitGeekFriday will feature one of the awesome posts shared by you wonderful FitGeeks out there.
Today’s spotlight is on Shrinkinguy, a wonderful member of the Fitocracy community, nice guy, and FitGeek who’s lost a ton of weight and kept it off. Good for him! And more than that, his blog is a way to pay it forward to people still working on reaching their weight loss and fitness goals.
So if you have trouble finding the time to exercise, take Shrinkinguy’s advice: you don’t find time to exercise; you make it.
Given that it’s the snowy wonderland out there, I’m pretty sure we can all make a little time to get a few more steps in, do some pushups, or something else while we’re trying to stay warm.
Be sure to use the “Add A Link” button below to be a part of next week’s community spotlight!
