I’m a creature of habit. Since the summer of 2012, I have eaten the same breakfast almost every single morning of every single day–a 16oz cup of coffee and a bowl of oatmeal with fresh blueberries added to it.

It all started when I hit a weight-loss plateau and figured that I’d give eating breakfast a try. I had always considered breakfast to be just empty calories, but the very week I started eating my oats, I started losing weight again. It really did jumpstart my metabolism.

Shortly thereafter, I started running and cycling more seriously and more regularly, and the oatmeal gave me the energy to do that early in the day.

So I figure, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. And I’ve kept up with the habit for nearly 3 years now. In fact, I’m eating my blueberry oats and drinking my coffee between words as I type this.

I used to say Oh, I’m not a breakfast person. I’m just not hungry in the morning. But once I gave it a try, it was the best thing I could have done for myself.

What about you? Have you guys ever had to eat your words with that kind of health/fitness belief?
