These days, it’s pretty hard to avoid negativity. It’s everywhere. From TV to our social media feeds to discussion with strangers in line at the grocery store, we are inundated right now with bad stuff. And most of it stems from the current political climate and the garbage that’s going on in America right now.

So Mike from Force Within (and Be a Healthy Geek) and I sat down and did a podcast on how you can take care of yourself during these stressful times. We both deal with stress in much the same way, using meditation and mindfulness as a foundation for thought management and self-care.

We discuss some strategies such as quick daily journaling (which we both do, and it’s nothing like ‘dear diary’ cliches, so no worries), daily time for meditation, simply setting down your phone and disconnecting (I do this for whole evenings now, and it is glorious), and other small actions that work for us so that we don’t get overwhelmed by things we can’t control.

Regardless of your politics, self-care is one of the most important skills you can learn. It helps to become mindful of how your emotions affect you physiologically, and when you’re aware of that, it’s mega important to have strategies to keep stress from affecting your adversely.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
